Financial Adviser - David Li, MBA, CPA
Redfield chairman David li(CPA) is the consultant of financial investment department for Merion, Inc., and responsible for consulting and guiding the financial stock department.
The main work is responsible for senior management projects such as corporate finance, strategic planning, investment banking, investors, market makers, investment funds, public relations companies (IR), roadshows/financing.
A recognized financial leader specialized in crafting the strategic version to achieve business goals, David Li offers a unique blend of executive acumen, global team-building, financial leadership and energetic and strong passion on his work.
David Li began his career on a path that is unique among other financial executives. After earned his engineering degree, he joined Cargill, world’s largest agribusiness and food company where he was engaged in strategic business development, joint venture setup and governmental relations management. His duties included P&L management of the operations of Beijing Office which includes six business units and IT/accounting functions for shared service.
David restarted his business career in Bunge Ltd., a Fortune 200 NYSE listed company in New York in 2003, as finance manager after obtained an MBA from Thunderbird, School of Global Management in Arizona, USA. His responsibilities include SEC reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual reporting), MD&A, financial planning and analysis, strategic planning, capital budgeting and mergers and acquisitions analysis.
His strong passion and love in solar energy brought him back to China to join Trina Solar in the beginning of 2007, where he headed the strategic planning and strategic financial development. He led the strategic planning process as well as financial planning and analysis and participated in several M&A transactions and project financing activities.
While serving as Asia Finance Controller in Eclipse Inc. (acquired by a private equity firm then Honeywell later), David Li, as a close partner of Asia CEO, drove the regional revenue growth to offset the slowdown in North America and Europe, and was instrumental in turnaround of India business and restructuring of Taiwan and South Korea business.
In 2010, David’s career took another leap forward when Selwyn Chihong Mining Co. Ltd. invited him to join the executive team as a CFO to safeguard and manage a $1.2 billion mining project in British Columbia, Canada, of which about $100 million has been spent in exploration, environmental assessment and bankable feasibility study. He took the leadership in establishing all policies/procedures and accounting systems/process for this new start-up joint venture and negotiating second tranche of financing from Chinese state-owned banks and commercial banks as well as assisted the company in exploring various equity financing solutions.
He joined Alderon Iron Ore Corp. a dual listed (NYSE and TSX) mining company in BC in 2012 as the Vice President of Asia Pacific. In this role, he assisted Executive Chairman in managing strategic investment from Asia and as part of the executive team led the project financing for a $1.4 billion iron ore project. He organized and participated in all the bank meetings and conducted M&A analysis in various deals. He also facilitates the communications among the shareholders in the board meetings and reviews financial statements and notes of the public company and MD&A as well as financial statements of the limited partnership. After June 2015, he has also worked on part-time basis as Chief Financial Officer of Minco Gold Corporation (TSX listed), Minco Silver Corporation (TSX listed), and Minco Base Metals and engaged in quarterly reporting/review, MD&A and Financial Notes, taxation in Canada and Hong Kong, treasury and FX management as well as purchase of mining assets. He has also worked as interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Eastern Platinum, a TSX and JSE dual listed company where he helped the company to turn around in the most difficult transition period after the company underwent a change of shareholders and change of control.
David has extensive experience in North America capital market. He has participated in various fund raising and project financing in Trina Solar Ltd. (A China based solar company); IPO of CNPV (a China based solar company) in NYSE Euronext, Strategic investment of over $100 million in a major zinc/lead project in Canada by a Chinese company; Strategic investment of $182 million from China in a Canadian iron ore project; Co-founder of Faith Spring Venture (a Capital Pool Company) following with successful RTO with Viscount Mining Corp.; Recent launch of a Canadian ULLC airline (Jetlines) in Vancouver through RTO.
David holds an MBA from USA and an active CPA license in Illinois, USA. He also received various trainings in Leadership, CFO program, SOX Review, Foreign Exchange and Risk Management and Executive Education Program in ESADE Business School in Madrid, Spain.
